Our loveliest assignment this year, so far, has been the typography project of creating a documentary DVD cover for a typestyle in the form of the Helvetica movie. We were given the particular typestyles and set to work, mine being Bauhaus.
I was thrilled with this particular typestyle, as I have always had a fondness for 40’s style design and colours and don’t often get a chance to use them. While Bauhaus isn’t exactly 1940’s and I had to keep to it’s actual era’s style, it was a particular style that was suited to the colours and lines. The real Bauhaus style was designed in the 1970’s but was based on Herbert Bayer’s universal from 1925 , sort of mixed up really wasn’t it.
