Semi-Permanent Conference – Brisbane

Friday 4th of July at the convention centre in Brissie City was a meeting place for all things design, this was part of a week long celebration of Graphic Design, Film, Art, Illustration and more which happens annually in four cities around Australia and New Zealand. I took a few notes during the conference and will share my experience with you now, sadly none of the photos I took turned out well enough to publish but (I hope they don’t mind) I have borrowed a photo of each speaker from the Semi-Permanent facebook site just so I could remember them better, and show them to you. The venue was sold out and we were lucky to get seats together with a good view of the speaker and screen, there ended up being 21 of us and we did walk in a little late. More Tea?

If there is no limit on the amount of tea that I can blog about, here I go again…

Mr Tea needs one more flavour to add to the collection that I had written about in a previous blog, I did have full intentions of having the black tea as my “special occasion” tea and just using the other three (breakfast tea + the 2 new ones) as the regular teas but I do like even numbers and sometimes just can’t stop myself when I’m having fun. I think it is also great to just do a little extra incase something is not working out in the end and you then have an emergency back-up without experiencing the whole ‘end of world’ scenario. So I now have a range of 4 regular teas: black, breakfast, roobois and white, leaving me to make a completely different package (and flavour?) for the special occasion tea. Asia Pacific Triennial excursion

Wednesday 31st of March was the day the three design classes from Kingscliff TAFE ventured up to Brisbane to view The 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of contemporary art,as well as Stephen Jones’ Hats collection and a fabulous display of butterflies and other insects from the Butterfly Man of Kuranda exhibition.

The Butterfly Man showed us the wonderful array of Queensland’s beautiful butterflies, beetles and moths as part of the International Year of Biodiversity. This exhibition was from the historic F.P. & A.P. Dodd Collection of Tropical Insects from Australia and New Guinea,¬† focusing on 28 beautifully arranged showcases from 1917 through to the 1960s.
