Ok, designing my web page with absolutely everything to do with it totally up to me is not as fun as it sounds. For a start all the really cool effects, like elastic thumbnail menus or CSS animated poster circles are way too advanced for a first time doer. Not to mention that after staring at my stuff for the last two years all I can see is the bits that should be fixed up, or the fact that none of it is really good enough to put on the internet for everybody to see anyway. Then I have the daunting task of settling on a ‘style’ to call my own – I know very well that I will have to live with that style until I redo it, and the way I am I’ll probably get tired of it before the end of the year… It was only a matter of months ago that I was working on my business cards, letterheads etc, (in older blogs you will see them) I’m already ready to redesign them – hmm, wish I could create something I would like forever. Or would that be considered boring. Read the rest of this entry »

Here I go again, it is great to get everyone’s opinions in my blogs and it really helps, while I might not directly use your suggestions I will always remember what you say. Possibly I will use just a part of what you say, you might like the colours of something, or the shape so I will more ten likely integrate those suggestions into my final decision.
This time we are helping the organisation Quota International, who are having an area meeting hosted in Northern NSW, they have 15 clubs in the area and are really quite large, they are also expecting a lot of International visitors to come just for the meeting. What they do is to help disabled and disadvantaged people, families and assist organisations, they “mentor, empower, support, connect with other people who care” here’s a link to their website: http://www.quota.org/ they certainly sound Read the rest of this entry »
As you read in a previous blog I am working on an airline branding style catalog, I had posted my logo I had decided and worked out the type style and colour palette. A few items of desire had crossed my path and I stuck my logo upon them, such as cups, glasses & promotional items.
This week I have been working on the office stationery that might be required. I really don’t see it necessary to go into invoice booklets and memo pads, but the letter heads came to mind as did the business cards and envelopes. The plane has been branded and you shall see that in a later post.
This is what I have completed in my quest for office stationery: Read the rest of this entry »
You guessed it, I am still working on my letterheads and have yet another version to display. This happened quite by accident in Harry’s class when I had my business card ready to show him, just laying on the top of my letterhead and he liked the look of it. If Harry likes the look of something I have created I think it is then good enough for everyone else to see. I did have to agree with him when he pointed out the view he just saw, and once I applied it to the letterhead it immediately gave it life and lift. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s sort of sad that, in our second year we have never really explored the whole business card/ letterhead thing. Logo’s are another that we have not yet really looked at – just something we gloss over on the way to something else, we have designed a lot of them but have we really been taught to design them? Does anyone ever get ‘taught’ how to design them, or is it just something that we just develop. Is there anything worth teaching or are those type of things just an accumulation of design skills combined to create something slightly useful and good to look at.
